Nanny CRB Checks

Nanny CRB - we like all our placed nannies apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the UK Criminal Records Bureau each year.  An Enhanced CRB Disclosure is not the same as a police check – it is much more thorough, the highest level of check.  By completing one each year, it shows that you are a serious, professional nanny and care about delivering the best service to your employers.

To attract the very best London nannies, we pay the CRB check fees for all nannies who we place with parents. Parents can rest-assured in the knowledge that these CRB checks, which are additional to thorough reference checking with previous employers, will be activated before the nanny starts work (As the process takes about 4 weeks, the results do not always arrive pre-commencement of the nanny job so during the interim we may use thorough reference checks ,and/or ID checks and/or interview to assess the nanny. It is generally thought that any nanny who agrees to a CRB check has nothing to hide) 

An Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau checks the following:

-  Whether an individual has been banned from working with children in a childcare role.  If so, their name appears on the Protection of Children Act’s list.

-  Whether an individual has been convicted of any offences.

-  Whether an individual appears on what is formerly known as ‘List 99’.  It is more recently referred to as Section 142 of the Education Act 2002. 

After one year, an Enhanced Disclosure is considered invalid so it is best for nannies to re-apply for a new one  each year.  The London Nanny Agency is able to process an Enhanced CRB Disclosure for you.  The Disclosure can be as expensive as £60 if you go through a nanny agency.  If you apply directly to the Criminal Records Bureau, you can save up to £20.  The processing of an Enhanced Disclosure may take anywhere from six to eight weeks.  For further information, feel free to contact the CRB directly on 0870 90 90 811.
