Nanny ReferencesReferences are such a crucial element in landing the best nanny job possible. Before approaching a nanny agency, let alone families, you must make sure all contact information for your referees is up-to-date. A responsible nanny asks for written references from his/her previous employers and keeps in touch with them to ensure their email, addresses and telephone numbers are current. Most great nanny jobs will require a minimum of two childcare references before you can be considered for the position. The same is true for nanny agencies – sometimes an agency may require more. Personal references cannot be used in place for childcare references, but than can be supplemental. Personal references should come from former teachers/professors, charity organisations for which you volunteered or other people in reputable positions who can vouch for your character. The more references you can provide the better. Having at least two references from permanent childcare positions (1 must be that of a nanny, but both is preferable) is the key to getting a top nanny job!
